According to many children, the most important thing in the hands of Santa Claus is a large bag of gifts. Without him, Santa Claus is not Santa Claus at all. Of course, any New Year's gift bag can be purchased in the store, but then you will not feel fully approaching the most magical holiday. It is much more pleasant to sew this accessory with your own hands.

Instructions

Step 1

To sew a Santa Claus gift bag, you will need not only scissors and a needle, but a piece of fabric for the base, the size of which is determined by the size of the bag. You will also need a lace or tape to tighten the neck of the bag, materials to decorate the accessory and, of course, a great desire to "tinker". If you already have all of the above, you have stocked up with patience and time, then you can safely start sewing a gift bag for Santa Claus.

Step 2

Take a piece of fabric you purchased and cut it into two equal-sized pieces. Turn both parts over to the wrong side and attach to each other so that they match along their contour. Mark on both sides with a chalk or a special pencil the place where the neck of the gift bag and the string for tightening it will be located. Then sew or sew on the sewing machine two pieces of fabric (on the wrong side), but leave the marked areas intact (unstitched).

Step 3

Once you have done this, turn the resulting pouch to the front through the slot you left. Mark the neckline and mark again (now from the front) where the string will go to close the pouch. Then sew it by overlocking the top edge of the bag and trimming it with bias tape.

Step 4

You can choose the color of the bias tape at your own discretion. It can match the color (tone) of the fabric of your bag, or, conversely, be in contrast to it. Sew on the loops and pass the string through them that will be used to tighten the neckline.

Step 5

You can also sew a "double-sided" bag of Santa Claus. To do this, you will need the same materials. Take two identical pieces of fabric in different colors, which would be harmoniously combined with each other. Fold these pieces in half and line them up. If one of the parts is larger than the other, carefully cut off the excess.

Step 6

Flip the pieces inside out and mark where the string (lace) will go for the neckline. Then sew on the wrong side of both bags to the marked spot and insert one bag into the other. Baste the neckline and mark the place where it will be pulled together, then sew the entire neckline and bags in a circle. Next, sew in the loops and thread the string.

Step 7

To decorate the bags, you can sew an embroidery or a bow to one of its parts, as well as multi-colored buttons and braid; glue rhinestones, sequins or make an author's applique.
