The sewing machine is the main working tool of any dressmaker or lover of needlework. They approach the choice of the machine model thoroughly, choosing the optimal combination of the operations performed by the machine in accordance with the specifics of the work of each needlewoman. In order for the machine to serve you for a long time and reliably, you need to regularly perform its maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, adjustment. As a result of lubrication of the machine, the friction of the parts against each other is reduced and their movement is facilitated. Lubrication of the sewing machine prevents rapid wear of its parts and mechanisms, as well as loud noise during operation.
It is necessary
- - machine oil;
- - bristle brush or brush;
- - soft lint-free cloth;
- - tweezers;
- - screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting the lubrication, the sewing machine must be thoroughly cleaned by removing scraps of thread, accumulated dust and dirt particles, and the remains of old oil from the main units of its mechanism. Remove the top and side housing covers, unscrew the needle plate with a screwdriver or coin. Remove the hook from the hook, the bobbin from the hook, and clean the inside and outside. Pay particular attention to cleaning the shuttle, gear, rotator and fabric movement. Also clean any easily accessible bushings that rub against moving parts of the machine.
Step 2
Cleaning is carried out with a special hard brush or a brush supplied with the sewing machine or those that are most convenient for you for cleaning. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to clean wide surfaces. Use tweezers to remove dirt from hard-to-reach places.
Step 3
Lubricate the machine with special machine oil. Using the neck of an oiler or syringe, gently apply a small drop of oil to all parts and assemblies of the machine that are subject to friction. Rotate the flywheel towards you several times so that the oil is evenly distributed over the surfaces of the rubbing parts. Blot excess oil with a cloth. Then return all the parts removed from the machine to their place and fasten them well.
Step 4
The sewing machine is lubricated depending on the frequency of use. If you sew on it daily, then lubricate it once a week. With less intensive, but regular use - once a month. If the machine is rarely used, then lubrication is required once every six months. Be sure to lubricate the machine after long periods of inactivity.
