Yo-yo is an amazing toy and a fine motor trainer at the same time. Over the past few decades, the popularity of this gadget among European youth has increased tenfold. Now fashion has reached Russia. Despite the fact that the toy looks like a piece of plastic or metal on a string, professional models cost from $ 300, which makes it difficult for Russian guys to purchase. However, there is one way out - to make the yo-yo yourself.

It is necessary

bearings, a centimeter round axle, a pair of wooden blocks, a strong rope

Instructions

Step 1

Find the size you want. It will not work to make a yo-yo of standard sizes out of wood, since this material is too heavy, which means that you will have to make a slightly smaller version. This has its advantages - it is easier to control the toy during tricks, and disadvantages - at a high speed of performing tricks, it is difficult to maintain concentration due to its small size.

Step 2

Purchase suitable bearings from a store. Of course, you can get by with just a small connecting axis, but then this option will be far from perfect.

Step 3

Once you've found good options for your rim size, find a connecting pin that will hold the rest of the parts. It can be made from a pencil or other perfectly round object.

Step 4

Decide on a tree for your drives. The lighter the wood is, the better. However, if you choose wood that is too soft, be prepared for the fragility of your toy. Like it or not, the yo-yo "calculates" all the angles that are possible, which explains its fragility.

Step 5

Saw out identical circular discs with a jigsaw or other handy tool. Try to do this without chips and pick up the tree without knots and other negative defects.

Step 6

Sand the blanks and weigh. Sometimes it is not enough to tell by eye whether the parts are the same or not. Easier to weigh and make sure the weight is the same.

Step 7

If possible, bevel both halves to the inside - this will allow you to perform some tricks.

Step 8

Saw a hole for the bearings or simply connect the halves to the axle with glue. All you have to do is find a suitable rope 100-120 centimeters long (depending on your height) and enjoy.
