You don't have to buy expensive paintings to decorate a room or living room. You can make a panel yourself, which can serve as a good decoration for your home.
First, you need to prepare the material in the form of reed sticks. Reed is a very common plant. You can find it on the shores of almost any body of water in central Russia. Most of the reeds can be found in overgrown water bodies and marshy plains. For the panel, only reed stems are needed. The cane stalk is easily cut with scissors. You need to collect stems of the same thickness, about 10 - 12 millimeters in diameter.
For the manufacture of our panels, in addition to reeds, you will need strong threads or twine, glue, sandpaper, varnish on wood and gouache.
Cut the cane stalks into equal lengths. For double binding, pancake stems no more than 50 centimeters are suitable. In order to remove all the unevenness and roughness of the reed, go over it with fine sandpaper. Pick the sturdiest cane stem and tie the threads to it in a regular knot. The ends of the threads must be left about two meters long. The knot should be positioned four centimeters from the edge of the reed. Tie a string or strong thread to the same cane stalk, by which the panel will be hung. For tying cane stalks, you can use any color of thread. Having hung the first stem of the reed on a hook or carnation, you can start making the entire panel.
Tie the second and third to the first stem with regular knots. It is necessary that the stems fit snugly against each other and do not protrude along the edges. Then tie the fourth stem, and so on until you get the panel of the desired length. For a tight fit of the stems, every fifth stem must be tied with a double knot. At the end of the panel, you can tie beauty brushes from the same threads.
To strengthen the panel, saturate the threads with paper glue. When the glue is dry, you can paint the panel with gouache. It is best to use a soft brush to paint the panel. After the paint has dried, the panel should be covered with colorless varnish. This will protect the panel from moisture and give the paints a brighter color.
