Baubles are original handmade jewelry made of threads that became popular in the days of hippies. They are often referred to as friendship bracelets. It is customary to give baubles to close people, and what could be better than a personalized gift.
It is necessary
- - 2-color floss threads;
- - scissors;
- - scotch tape;
- - weaving pattern.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a pattern for weaving a bauble with a name. Take an ordinary piece of paper in a box and draw a drawing of the future bauble, where 1 cell will correspond to 1 square knot. If you don't know how to sketch letters schematically, use a template.
Step 2
Choose floss threads in two contrasting colors or two shades of the same color (dark and light). Cut off the required number of threads for the warp, for example 8 and one working thread of a contrasting shade.
Step 3
The length of the floss depends on the desired size of the bauble. Multiply the length of the bracelet by 4. For example, if you need to weave an ornament 15 cm long, then multiply this number by 4, it turns out that the required length of the threads is 60 cm. But experienced needlewomen recommend not cutting off the thread, but weaving from a whole floss and cutting off at the end of the work.
Step 4
Lay the threads vertically next to each other. Place the working thread on the left. Attach them to the table with a piece of duct tape. Step back 8-10 cm from the edge, depending on the desired length of the bracelet tie, and start weaving. Tie all the threads in one knot. Lay out as you did before. Start weaving the backdrop with straight weave.
Step 5
Tie double knots from left to right with working thread. Then with the same thread, go in the opposite direction with the right loop knots, and so on, until you weave to the first letter according to your scheme.
Step 6
Next, weave a bauble with a name according to the scheme. With a working thread for the background, make the required number of knots up to the letter. Then take the next warp thread and swap it with the working thread, now it will become the working thread.
Step 7
Tie a knot with it, but in the opposite direction of weaving, that is, if you weaved the background from left to right, the knots of letters will need to be woven from right to left and vice versa. To prevent the letters of the name from merging, weave 2 rows of baubles between them.
Step 8
Weave the required bauble length in straight weave. Tie all the threads in one knot. Divide the ends on both sides into 3 equal parts, braid with an ordinary pigtail and tie all the threads together in one more knot on each side of the bauble.
