A bright and colorful hussar costume will not leave indifferent any boy on the eve of the masquerade. The image of a courageous and dapper hussar will help to create the details of the costume - golden braid, edges, a sultan on a shako.

It is necessary

  • - red jacket (mentik);
  • - red jacket (dolman);
  • - shako black or red;
  • - the sultan for the shako;
  • - white or blue leggings;
  • - black boots;
  • - tashka bag;
  • - strips of fur or synthetic winterizer (white or black);
  • - 1 m of gold cord with tassels;
  • - 2 m of gold braid;
  • - 17 gold buttons for dolman;
  • - 10 gold buttons for the mentic.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a woolen jacket or a straight-cut jacket with a stand-up collar as the basis of your suit. Take off your pattern and sew the top for the mentic out of red cotton. The mentik is worn on top of a dolman, it should be shorter than a dolman, without a collar, with edging along the neck, cuts of sleeves, along the shelves and along the lower cut.

Step 2

Unstrap the jacket or jacket, adjust the length (it should be waist-high), rip the collar. Duplicate the details with a red fabric upper, sew the indicated cuts with the edging of strips of fur or padding polyester. On the shelves, sew double horizontal stripes of gold braid (five on the left and right shelves), sew buttons to the ends of each strip.

Step 3

Sew a dolman out of red cotton using the same pattern (you can reinforce it with a lining). Do not forget to sew a stand-up collar, make it 5-7 cm longer, and sew the gold braid on the shelves in eight rows. The collar and cuffs can be cut out of black or white fabric, to match the color of the leggings, decorate the cuffs with gold braid and sew on buttons.

Step 4

Craft a shako from black or red fabric, or you can also use faux leather. Cut out a rectangle of fabric or leather with a length that matches the circumference of the head and about 20 cm high. Sew gold braid along the bottom and top cuts.

Step 5

Cut out the bottom, sew it to the rectangle, then grind the longitudinal cut. Reinforce the structure with cardboard. Cut the visor out of black leather, or take a ready-made one. Attach the cord with tassels: it should cross the front of the shako from left to right, hanging loosely to the visor, and the end with tassels should hang down to the shoulder. Don't forget to attach the sultan.

Step 6

Make leggings based on straight-cut cloth trousers. Trim them down at the bottom so they can be tucked loosely into the boots. Decorate from waist to hip with gold braid monograms on the left and right sides.

Step 7

Prepare, if possible, the rest of the details - saber, bag, spurs. The tashka bag is easy to make with your own hands, it resembles a hunting bag with a flap on a long belt. Make it out of cloth in the color of dolman, take a gold cord instead of a belt. The bag hangs down to the knee and is decorated with a coat of arms or braid.
