It is necessary

  • - Non-spun wool;
  • - Fabric silk for the base;
  • - Pieces of wool, fabrics for decoration;
  • - Packing film with bubbles;
  • - Sprayer;
  • - Baby soap;
  • - Two towels.

Instructions

Step 1

Felting is possible not only with special felting needles. Felt can be felted without special devices, with wet hands on a fabric base. True, it is difficult to make volume, flat things are obtained. With this method, the wool shrinks by about 1/3 of the part, so you need to make the width and length of the base fabric a little larger.

Step 2

After calculating and selecting the base fabric, you can start felting. To do this, you need to put one layer of plastic film on a flat flat surface, and on it you need to fold locks of wool in thin layers. To do this, they are carefully pulled out of the main frame with dry hands and spread layer by layer on polyethylene. One layer of strands is stacked vertically, the other horizontally. It is necessary to ensure that the strands are laid in an even layer and that there are no so-called "gaps". At the time of laying, you can change the colors of the wool, insert any other textured threads, depending on the intended result.

Step 3

After the wool is laid, it must be wetted with water. Better to do this from a spray bottle.

Step 4

After the wool is wet, you need to lather another sheet of polyethylene on the side where the bubbles are, and then gently put it on the wool with the soapy side. Now you should press the polyethylene so that all the wool is soaked in water and crumpled. Try not to move the film, but gently smooth and press the fibers together. If, when lifting the film, some strands of wool suddenly fall behind the future product, they can be smoothed back.

Step 5

Then you need to lather your hands and distribute the soap over the product with patting movements. After distributing the soap, the felt must be turned over to the other side, the film must be removed and the same movements made with the hands from the back side. From the rubbing movements, the wool fibers adhere to each other. If there is not enough soap, you need to add it, additionally soaping your hands. If there is a lot of soap and water, the excess can be removed with the help of two towels, placing the product between them and squeezing slightly, in no case twisting it.

Step 6

After the strands have already adhered to each other and the product has acquired a dense structure, you can place the product between two layers of polyethylene, roll it into a tube and roll it several times.

Step 7

The readiness of the felt is determined by the density of the texture, reduction in size, strong adhesion of the wool and tight weave. After the felt is felted, it must be rinsed several times in clean water, and the last rinse should be done with vinegar to fix the color of the wool.
