Many homes have old greeting cards associated with fond holiday memories. If there are too many of them, it is not necessary to throw out colorful pictures - they will serve as material for the original craft. Try making a box out of postcards. It will become not just a pretty trinket, but a repository of various useful little things.
It is necessary
- - postcards;
- - scissors;
- - pencil;
- - ruler;
- - cardboard;
- - scotch tape;
- - PVA glue (polyvinyl acetate);
- - a needle;
- - cotton threads;
- - button or colored cardboard;
- - decorative braid;
- - additional decorative elements (foil, tinsel, cotton wool, confetti, rags, etc.).
Instructions
Step 1
Draw on the cardboard the bottom of the future box - a hexagonal shape. Paste postcards on both sides.
Step 2
Prepare the inner walls of the product - 12 cards of the same size. Measure and cut from every third honor along a transverse line.
Step 3
Glue the cards in pairs, right sides up. The width of each part must be equal to the side of the base hexagon.
Step 4
Step back 1.5 cm from the edge of each workpiece and make neat punctures around the perimeter with a thin needle. The holes should be in a straight line, at the same distance from each other.
Step 5
Thread the needle with a strong cotton thread and secure the knot at the bottom of the box. To prevent it from slipping through the punctures made, secure it with a piece of transparent tape.
Step 6
Place the bottom on the table and attach the cropped double postcard to one side of the hexagon. Join the edges of the parts.
Step 7
Place the second wall of the box next to it and sew it in the image of the first. When all paired cards are attached to the bottom, sew them together. You will get a box - the skeleton of the product.
Step 8
Start making the front of the craft. Its outer walls will be decorative and blown. To achieve this effect, take 6 whole rectangular postcards and sew them onto the finished frame.
Step 9
Proceed in the following sequence: the postcard turns on its face; its lower edge is connected to the lower edge of the bottom, and the upper edge is connected to the top of one of the sides of the box. This will form the main part of the paper box with holes on the sides.
Step 10
Cut out and glue a lid from cardboard and postcards, then sew it to the top of the box. Now you need to close the sides of the piece to complete it. You can cut and sew on petal-shaped details from postcards, designer paper, or brightly colored patches. It will also be interesting to look at a box with unsealed edges. Just plug the holes with glitter and confetti cotton, foil sheets, or Christmas tree tinsel.
Step 11
Make the final touch - attach a handle made of a large button with a leg or a strip of colored cardboard to the lid of the finished product.
