In order to make the branches of the spruce look more authentic, you can depict cones on them. But in the process of drawing, it is important to pay attention to seemingly insignificant details, otherwise an experienced glance will immediately reveal inaccuracies.

Instructions

Step 1

Start by drawing a picture of the branch to which the pinecone will be attached. Keep in mind that up to twenty such shoots can grow on one spruce paw. Consider also the fact that, unlike pine or cedar cones, spruce cones hang straight down.

Step 2

Make a preliminary drawing of the cone in the form of an elongated oval. Place it at the end of a spruce paw; cones do not grow in the middle of the branch, since they are a continuation of the shoot. In the future, you will change this oval, add details and draw the structural features of this shoot, depending on what time of year you have chosen. But the beginning is the same anyway.

Step 3

Sharpen the bump at the end that won't attach to the branch. Note that the bump should be symmetrical about the center vertical line. Erase the construction lines with an eraser.

Step 4

Draw scales over the entire surface of the shoot. At the base of the cone, they are larger and thinner, have cracks, uneven edges. At the end, the scales are younger and even. If you want to depict summer, then draw a bump with scales tightly adjacent to each other. Closer to autumn, they begin to lag behind each other and puff up, such a lump looks loose. In addition, in wet weather, the scales shrink, and in dry weather they open. Therefore, if you are drawing a rainy day, depict the bump as dense.

Step 5

Consider the order in which the scales grow on the bud. They are not arranged in even rows, as, for example, corn kernels on the cob, but like bricks in the masonry. The middle of the lower scale is between two of the upper row.

Step 6

Color in the drawing. For mature autumn buds, use brown and beige colors, for young ones add a green hue. Don't forget about the shadows under the bulging scales. Highlight damages and irregularities on their surface with dark paint.
