Santa Claus and his granddaughter Snegurochka are symbols of the New Year, which are certainly present in any decorations at home, but especially in the form of Christmas tree decorations, as well as figurines standing under the Christmas tree. You can make them yourself from different materials such as fabric, paper, and beads.

How to make Santa Claus and Snow Maiden from fabric

You can sew fabulous grandfather and granddaughter in the form of plush toys of any size and shape. Felt and synthetics are best suited for making these characters as Christmas tree crafts. In this case, the style of the toys will differ. Felt figures will be flat, with simple shapes. However, this simplicity is precisely the essence of both stylization and laconicism.

Felt crafts will look appropriate in a minimalist interior.

Christmas decorations made from some other fabric will rather become a more cheerful and elegant decoration. To sew both magical characters out of felt, first sketch out the same simple shapes as if you made them out of paper.

Use circles, cones, triangles in classic colors for fairy-tale characters, while remembering that the toys will turn out to be flat. After that, collect them like a regular applique. It is advisable to sew the bases (cones or triangles) for the bodies of each New Year's toy from two identical pieces of felt. This will make the toy more dense.

Sew all the elements together with a noticeable seam, stepping back from the edge of 1.5 mm. There is no need to hide the seam, on the contrary, it should be exposed - this will be a special highlight. To sew New Year's toys from ordinary fabrics, first sew the heads of both fairy-tale characters and stuff them tightly with cotton wool. Put the figures in fur coats with trim, and pull miniature mittens of the corresponding color on your hands. The size of such toys usually does not exceed 5-6 cm.

How to make Santa Claus and Snow Maiden out of paper

One of the easiest options is to make cone-based appliqué shapes. You will need:

- colored paper;

- markers;

- pencil;

- glue;

- scissors;

- compasses.

Cut out a large circle on 2 sheets of paper, red and blue - this will be the base for the two characters. The color of the Snow Maiden's fur coat and headdress is blue or light blue, while Santa Claus's hats and fur coats are mostly red.

Twist the cut out circles into cones, then glue each one. For the small details of the figures and facial features, you will also need pink, white, and yellow paper. Cut out two circles from pink paper (larger and smaller), these will be the faces of the characters. Draw eyes on both, and add a nose and eyelashes to the Snow Maiden's face, glue a red circle nose to Santa Claus and draw a blush on both cheeks and smiles.

Close the bottom of the face circle of the fairy-tale grandfather with the wide part of the white triangle - the beard. Then add a white mustache that closes into a beard, and glue a yellow pigtail for the granddaughter, making it from two strips of paper. After that, glue the top of the cones with caps, which should have a white strip at the bottom - a trim. Add the exact same edging to the bottom of the fur coats.

Now you can put fairy-tale characters under the tree or hang on it. In the latter case, glue thread or paper loops to the top of the cones of the figures.

How to make Santa Claus and Snow Maiden from beads

You can weave both flat and volumetric figures of two heroes from beads. In the second case, you will need a more detailed diagram, and in the first, the figures can be weaved by independently drawing the diagram on a regular sheet of paper in a box. One cell should correspond to one bead.

Flat figures are best used as decorations for the Christmas tree, as key chains or small gifts for friends.

So, draw a diagram or use an existing one. For example, your Santa Claus will consist of 27 rows. Distribute the desired colors - put 1 row of 15 white beads on the edge of the fur coat, and 1 row of 4 red beads on the top of the character's cap.

Start weaving from the cone of the head and body with the simplest weaving, stringing the beads in the middle of the wire, and then intertwining its ends. Hands can also be woven from the same wire and attached separately later.
