A fur jacket, neatly sewn according to a fashionable pattern, looks presentable and festive. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to spend money on natural material or to give an expensive individual order in the atelier. You can make a faux fur jacket. This is especially recommended at home if you haven't gotten a handle on leather and lint. Your task is to carefully calibrate the pattern of the product and train yourself in the machining of cuts of cut parts.
It is necessary
- - pattern;
- - tailor's meter;
- - scissors;
- - razor blade;
- - pins;
- - massage brush;
- - needle;
- - threads;
- - oblique inlay;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a simple jacket pattern with a minimum of decorative details - the fur fabric is beautiful in itself, and additional parts of the cut will be lost in it.
Step 2
Refine the line of the hips and chest. You must leave enough freedom of fit, because you will put on warm clothes under the jacket. Fur clothing that is too tight will make its owner unnecessarily fat. If you want to emphasize the waist, it is enough to cut out a fur or leather belt - this will allow you to do without complicated darts.
Step 3
Cut the fur fabric in one layer, completely spreading all the details of the cut on it. Do not make folds (for example, for the hood and sleeves), otherwise you will not be able to cut the elements of the product evenly - the pile under the tailor's scissors will slip and the joints will part.
Step 4
Leave stock for hemming sleeves, sides, pockets and hood. If desired, it will be possible to fold the lower edge, although it is often performed without a fold. Do not leave allowances for the main connecting seams!
Step 5
Please note that all fur parts must lie in the same direction of the pile. If the hair growth is not obvious, check it by sliding the inside of your hand over the surface of the faux fur.
Step 6
Cut the faux fur with a sharp razor blade (a special furrier knife will not work here). If you decide to use a tailor's scissors, then work carefully so as not to damage the artificial lint. It is recommended to pre-comb it with a massage brush away from the cut lines.
Step 7
Fasten the parts "facing" each other and pin them together. After that, you can start processing the connecting seams.
Step 8
Begin to grind the cuts with a zigzag so that on the right side of the work the needle goes slightly beyond the cut line. Slip a bias tape along the seam on the seamy side of the jacket. If the stitching will not be subjected to a large load (for example, on the collar), you can make a butt seam - it will not seal the junction of the parts. From the "face" of the work it will be covered by a pile.
Step 9
Remove the pins and turn the stitched fur jacket over to the right side. Pull the stitched parts - the cuts should stretch and lie back to back. Use a darning needle to smooth out any fluff caught under the stitches. This is necessary in order for the fur jacket to look solid externally.
Step 10
Sew on the pockets, cuffs of the jacket and finish over the bottom hem. If the faux fur is not too bulky, then you can hem and sew it by hand from the inside of the product.
Step 11
An even easier way to finish your jacket (especially if you're using a fairly thick material) is to skip the hem at all. Just run a securing stitch along the bottom hem and sew on the bias tape. Do not forget that when sewing a fur jacket, you should try to sew in the direction of the villi. This will allow the fabric to slide more evenly under the sewing machine foot.
