Denis Mazhukov is a hereditary musician. His father, Aleksey Mazhukov, is the author of hits of the Soviet era, which were performed by Alla Pugacheva and Edita Piekha. Denis is known not only in Russia, but also abroad as a genius author and performer of music and songs in the style of rock and roll, boogie-woogie, ragtime, blues.
Biography
Music surrounded Denis from birth. At the age of six, he became acquainted with a direction rare for the USSR - gospel - church songs of African Americans in the United States, and with boogie woogie. Then he realized that this was "his" music. and it is her that he wants to do. A few years later, the music of the Beatles made a huge contribution to his interest in this music.
But he also experienced disappointment at an early age. In 1983, the boy had the opportunity to appear on television. He prepared a rock and roll song, but it was not missed. The American style was considered alien to the Soviet people. And a year later, with a lyric song, also of his own composition, the boy was allowed "on the screen". then there were other "correct" songs that were hugely successful.
This did not change his views. He continued to work in his favorite musical directions.
The father honestly warned his son. that with such a repertoire in the Union it is difficult to achieve success, but Denis remained unconvinced.
There was another serious hobby in his life - sports. In his youth, Denis was engaged in martial arts and even faced a choice: music or professional sports.
Love for rock and roll overcame. Mazhukov entered the pop-jazz faculty of the V. Gnessin and successfully completed it.
By this time, Western music was no longer banned, and the career of the young performer was developing successfully. He performed at the largest Russian and world concert venues, recorded nine albums, and became a participant in many prestigious rock and roll festivals.
He was a musician in the Bravo group. Later he became the founder and leader of the musical "Off Beat".
Denis Mazhukov made a splash on the Artist project in 2014. Accompanying himself, he sang the song "Great Ball Of Fire" and scored 91% of the points.
Mazhukov does not consider himself a religious person, but he is sure that his musical fate is predetermined from above. and he simply could not live in another way.
Creation

He also performs compositions in the style of boogie-woogie, rhythm and blues. according to Denis, they help to understand rock and roll. at the same time, the musician is not fond of remakes, but performs music in the spirit of the time when this musical trend was born.
Denis works mainly in English, albums in Russian appeared in his creative asset a long time after he began performing. The musician himself explains this by the fact that English is the "native" language of rock and roll.
Mazhukin's talent was recognized by the legendary performer of the musical movement Jerry Lee. During the concerts of the American performer in Moscow, which was attended by the Russian musician, Lewis said that Denis played like himself in his youth.
Denis himself recalls the words of Chuck Berry, who said during the rehearsal: “Boy, I want you to play for me! I have not heard this before!"
Many people today believe that Mazhukov plays in the style of Jerry Lee. The musician is sure that this is a high assessment of his work - it is extremely difficult to work in the manner of a legendary performer. But he is also confident that he has brought a lot of new things to rock 'n' roll.
This is confirmed by the fact that Mazhukov is the only non-American musician invited as a participant to the Summer Jamboree international festival in Senigallia. The organizers went for it in the confidence that no one except Denis is capable of revealing an entire era in music with such talent.
As a rule, musicians choose one direction and develop in it, while Mazhukov works in different genres, and in each one he is very talented.
According to the famous musician, he owes his success not only to talent, although without it - nowhere. He considers hard work and perseverance to be no less important.
