Modern computer games attract with dynamic plots and realistic graphics. One of the most important parameters affecting the perception of the graphics component of the game is the actual frame rate of the displayed image. This indicator is called FPS (frames per second). The higher it is, the more smoothly the picture on the screen changes. Sometimes, to identify problems with display, you need to measure the fps in the game.
It is necessary
installed Fraps application
Instructions
Step 1
Start Fraps. Use the shortcut on the desktop or in the Programs section of the menu available after clicking the Start button. If such shortcuts do not exist, go to the folder with the installed application and run the fraps.exe executable file.
Step 2
Proceed to configuring performance tracking options and FPS indicator output. Switch to the FPS tab in the main program window.
Step 3
Set the hotkey to start and stop performance tracking. Click on the text box below Benchmarking Hotkey. Press a key or key combination on the keyboard. A description of the selected combination appears in the text box.
Step 4

Select the Stop benchmark automatically after checkbox and enter a value in the text box next to it if you want to stop recording statistics after a certain time.
Step 5

A digital indicator with a changing value will be displayed directly in the game application window. If you need to collect statistics on FPS changes over a period of time (for example, to take measurements when performing certain game actions), press the hotkey set in the third step. Press the same key again when you want to stop collecting statistics. Open the log files in the benchmarks folder of the Fraps installation directory to view the collected statistics.
