It is necessary

  • - graph paper sheet;
  • - tailor's line;
  • - pencil;
  • - a piece of soap or chalk to transfer the pattern to the fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

Start building a pattern by taking measurements. You need the length of the product from the waist to the bottom line, the girth of the waist, the height and width of the top. At the same time, the half-girth of the hips does not have to be measured very accurately, because the apron can be slightly wider or slightly narrower than the specified size.

Step 2

Draw a rectangle on graph paper. Its length is equal to the half-girth of the hips, and its width is the length of the apron from the waist to the bottom. Think about what kind of pockets you want to make. The simplest option is a pocket stitched along the bottom line along the entire width of the apron. If you are going to sew from a double-sided fabric, you can cut it out right away by adding another 25-30 centimeters to the length of the product along the bottom line. If the fabric is one-sided, just cut out a strip. Its length is equal to the width of the apron, and the width is equal to the estimated height of the pocket along with the allowance. The lower part can also be made in the form of a trapezoid, the short base of which will be located at the bottom.

Step 3

The upper part can be made in the form of a square or an isosceles trapezoid. Measure the distance between the bulging points of your chest. Add a couple more centimeters on each side. This will be the width of the top. Determine the height by measuring the distance from the convex point of the chest to the waist. Add another 3-4 cm to the resulting measurement. If you want to make the upper part in the form of a trapezoid, the distance between the convex points of the chest will be its upper base. Draw a line of the appropriate size. At the ends, draw the perpendiculars down from chest to waist. Set aside 15 cm from these points to the right and left and connect the ends of the bases of the trapezoid with straight lines.

Step 4

Transfer the pattern to the fabric and cut, leaving hem allowances. Cut out a separate pocket on the one-sided fabric. In this case, it will need to be stitched before assembling the entire product. Align the wrong side of the apron with the front of the pocket so that the long and side cuts match. Baste and stitch the pocket. Iron it onto the right side of the product. Hem the hem by folding it twice to the wrong side.

Step 5

Before assembling the product, process the side edges of the large rectangle, as well as all the cuts of the upper part. except for the bottom. Fold them up twice and stitch them. You can also process them in a zigzag, especially if the fabric is dense enough and does not crumble very much. Align the parts so that the upper part is exactly in the middle of the cut of the rectangle. Sweep the details, stitch and iron the seams. Fold both allowances twice and stitch them to one and the second part, respectively.
