Despite the abundance of various clothes in stores, many are still addicted to sewing. After all, this is not only a way to diversify your wardrobe, but also a huge scope for creativity and imagination. Those who are fond of needlework know that it is best to sew things not according to ready-made patterns from magazines, but to do them yourself, completely in accordance with their sizes and the desired style. And if you know how to correctly make a pattern, for example, an apron, you can later cope with more complex clothing models.
It is necessary
- - a centimeter for measuring body parameters;
- - tracing paper or graph paper;
- - pencil;
- - eraser;
- - ruler.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the style of the apron that you are going to sew. It can be a one-piece apron, a two-piece apron with patch pockets, or another. Images from the Internet and home economics magazines will help you in choosing. For your first sewing experience, you can choose a simple one-piece model, the description of which will be given below.
Step 2
Take the necessary measurements. You will need to measure your front length (from chest to hip line), hem length (from hip line to your desired length, such as knees), waist and hips. Write down all the resulting numbers.
Step 3
Start designing a pattern. Draw a rectangle on tracing paper or graph paper, the side of which will be the length of the front, and the upper and lower sides will be the half-girth of the waist (the girth of the waist, divided in half). Then draw a vertical line in the middle of the rectangle. Mark the lower point of this line as A.
Step 4
Set aside from line A, perpendicular to the center line, two segments, each of which is equal to a quarter of the hip circumference. Mark the ends of the segments as B and C. Then draw the segments perpendicular to those already drawn from points B and C. The length of the segments should be the length of the hem. Connect the resulting line segments with a horizontal line at the bottom. You should have two rectangles adjoining each other on one side.
Step 5
Draw two smooth, concave lines from the vertices of the upper rectangle to points B and C. Thus, your apron will be one-piece. If desired, you can add patch pockets or a frill at the bottom to the pattern. Cut out the finished pattern along the edge lines and it's ready to use.
