Ellie Robert Fitoussi's biography began in the city of Menzel-Bourguiba, located in the northern part of Tunisia, between two lakes, Ishkel and Bizerte. He was born on January 1, 1947 in the family of a craftsman. Soon the family moved to France and settled in Paris, where he spent all his childhood. He became interested in the music of Robert Fitoussi quite early, he loved to play and sing from childhood, but his parents wanted him to follow in his father's footsteps and become a shoemaker. Of course, he mastered this craft, but the work of a shoemaker did not attract him. It took quite a long time to convince the parents and prove to them that his vocation is music, creativity. His father's profession helped Robert to acquire such qualities as patience, love for work, without which a musical career is unthinkable.
Robert has played guitar in a variety of bands, from hard rock to Hi-Energy. Ups and downs replaced each other, but Robert quickly coped with them and went in search of a new creative union, enriching his musical experience and allowing him to contribute to the musical creativity of the 70s and early 80s. Having become famous in 1972, after the release of the disc "Superman, Superman" under the pseudonym FR David, already in 1973 he began working with the Greek musician Vangelis. Together they recorded music for films and, in addition, recorded solo albums. FR David was more interested in Hi-Energy song ballads, while Vandelis preferred complex instrumental music using synthesizers and other electro-musical instruments. They parted ways when Robert decided to move to America to gain worldwide fame. Vandelis refused to travel, and then FR David went overseas without him, with the group Variations, playing hard rock. The musicians were lucky to perform on the same stage with world rock celebrities, AC / DC, Aerosmith and Scorpions. In America, FR David met his wife-to-be, in a romantic atmosphere, on an airplane, in the skies over Los Angeles.
At the height of glory
After the breakup of the rock group, F. R. David continued to work in America for another 5 years, recording joint studio albums with American bands such as Richie Evans, after which he returned to France, continuing to perform solo concerts and record studio albums. In 1982 his most famous song "Words" was released, which sold 8 million copies worldwide. In Britain, this single took 2nd place and was in the top ten compositions for a year and a half. FR David even appeared in the famous British TV show "Top of The Pops" - "At the top of fame", in which it is considered prestigious.
Currently, FR David continues to organize concert tours around the world. On one of his recent tours, he visited Yekaterinburg and other cities in Russia.
