They have incorporated the advantages of the other two types - screw and lock-nut and are practically devoid of their disadvantages. The fact is that, using a lock nut, you will spend a lot of time removing and adding pancakes, untwisting and tightening the fasteners each time. The screw lock does not hold the pancakes on the bar poorly, and you risk getting injured by tilting the bar a little during the exercise. And the spring lock slips on quickly and holds the pancakes tightly throughout your workout.
