Since 1924, in the very center of Moscow, on Red Square, in a specially built Mausoleum, the embalmed body of V. I. Ulyanov-Lenin. Although the personality of this man is very ambiguous and contradictory, there is no doubt that he played a very important role in world history. Therefore, the number of people wishing to visit the Lenin Mausoleum is still large.
You can get to the Mausoleum on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Reception hours: from 10-00 to 13-00. Guests of the capital should remember that the nearest metro station is Okhotny Ryad. Climbing up, you should go to the corner of the Historical Museum, where the line of those wishing to visit the Mausoleum begins. The length of this line can be discouraging, but you shouldn't be afraid as it moves pretty fast. There will be two intermediate control points along the way. At the first, rather large groups of people (from 20 to 30 people) are separated from the general queue, passing them to the second point, closer to the Mausoleum. At this second point, law enforcement officers inform visitors that it is forbidden to enter the Mausoleum with large bags, backpacks, piercing and cutting objects, food, as well as cameras, video cameras and mobile phones with cameras. If a visitor has at least one of the listed items, he will not be allowed into the Mausoleum. Therefore, willy-nilly, you will have to go to the Historical Museum, where there is a luggage room. It is paid, but the prices are very reasonable - from 20 to 60 rubles. Having received a number and a receipt in the storage room, you should return to the second post and go through the metal detector frame. If everything is in order, you can proceed to the inspection. Visitors wishing to go straight to the Mausoleum can do so. But it is better to first examine the right side of the necropolis near the Kremlin wall, where urns with the ashes of many outstanding people - politicians, scientists, military leaders, astronauts - are buried. And only then go to the final resting place of Ulyanov-Lenin. Of course, once in the Mausoleum, visitors should behave themselves, refrain from talking (even in a whisper). Men, entering the Mausoleum, must take off their hats. You should not linger near the sarcophagus with the embalmed body, so as not to interfere with people walking behind. But there is no need to rush. Walking around the sarcophagus with a calm, unhurried step, inspect the body of Ulyanov-Lenin and head towards the exit. After that, once again being on Red Square, you can continue exploring the left side of the necropolis. There are monuments on the graves of prominent figures, many of whom were contemporaries and associates of V. I. Ulyanov-Lenin. After completing the inspection, do not forget to get your belongings back from the locker (of course, if you donated something).
