To knit a turtleneck (tight-fitting sweater with a stand-up collar), you need to master the knit stitch on straight and circular needles and a simple elastic band. The finished product should stretch a little and fit well the figure of its owner. So choose an elastic yarn with synthetic fibers that is comfortable to wear.

Step 1
Specify the length of the future product from the bottom edge to the shoulder line. For example, a size 46 turtleneck can be made with a total length of 62 cm.
Step 2
Make a knitting pattern with front satin stitch and 1x1 elastic (alternating front and back stitches).
Step 3
Measure the top line of the hips with a tailor's meter and use a square of knitted fabric to find out the number of loops you need to dial for the back and front of the model. For example: with a knitting density of 19 loops by 25 rows in a 10x10 cm square, for size 46 you will need to cast 204 loops. The total length of the lower edge of the back and front is 104 cm.
Step 4
It is recommended to knit a turtleneck with circular knitting needles to reduce the number of cut details and the time for connecting seams. Cast on loops (here - 204) and knit elastic at the same time for the front and back of the turtleneck.
Step 5
Tie an elastic band about 6-7 cm high. Next, proceed to the front surface. Do not forget that with circular knitting, you do not need to make purl rows - only work with front loops.
Step 6
Continue knitting until you reach the beginning of the armholes of the sleeves. In the example shown, this will be about 43 cm from the bottom of the work. You should make subtractions on the left and right sides, at the junction of the front and back. First close 3 loops for the front of the sleeve, then the same amount for the back, etc.
Step 7
Next, work symmetrically over the back and front. 2 times on each side, close in every second row a pair of loops, then again - on a loop.
Step 8
Knit the back and in front of the turtleneck without a cutout, and when you knit the product of the desired length, follow the line of the shoulders. To do this, on each side, you need to close about 22 loops (for a size 46 turtleneck), and string the remaining open loops on a pin. This is the base of the future collar.
Step 9
Sew the sleeves, starting with the cuffs, with 1x1 elastic (same height as the elastic at the bottom of the garment). For this example, cast on 49 stitches. It is more convenient to work on straight knitting needles.
Step 10
While knitting a neat fabric of the front surface, gradually expand the wedge of the sleeves: in every sixth row, you need to add 18 times along the loop. Then in every fourth row, add a loop until you have 85 loops on your knitting needles.
Step 11
Here (at a height of 45 cm from the edge of the cuff) the most difficult thing will begin - the execution of the turn of the turtleneck sleeve. The collar must match perfectly with the armholes of the sleeves, otherwise the garment will look rough. Take the finished part of the front and back as a sample. In this example: Bind off 3 stitches each on the left and right. Then in each front row, cut the knitted fabric by a couple of loops on each side, and so on 6 times. Remove 8 times along the loop; 4 times in a pair of loops; 2 times 3 loops. If you did everything correctly, then you should have only 11 stitches on the knitting needles. Close them.
Step 12
Start assembling the turtleneck parts. Sew the connecting seams of the sleeves and sew these pieces to the armholes. Sew the line of the shoulders and type on the knitting needles the loops of the front and back that lie on the pin. Add a pair of eyelets to them in the area of the shoulder seams and tie with a 1x1 elastic band a standing collar of the desired height. Close the last loops of the finished knitted turtleneck.
