Even those who first decided to start sewing on a sewing machine can sew a skirt in tiers. This is a great reason not only to practice, but also to get a bright free-cut summer skirt that you can wear to the beach and go for a walk in it in the evening or in a cafe. If you like the image of a gypsy, then choose materials for her in bright, contrasting colors. For those who already have sewing skills, sewing can be complicated by sewing lace into the seams of each tier.

It is necessary

  • Cotton lightweight material - chintz, satin, calico - 2 m 90 cm wide,
  • Wide elastic band - 70 cm,
  • Lace tape 2 m

Instructions

Step 1

Measure your hip circumference. Place the fabric on the cutting table or on the floor. Cut it into three equal strips 30 cm wide along the lobular line. Take the first strip, cut a piece equal to the circumference of the thighs plus 10 cm. Sew the side seam, fold the edge to the width of the elastic plus 1 cm, sew it in a circle. This will be the belt of your skirt.

Step 2

Take the second strip of fabric, cut a piece of 1.5 meters from it. Fold along the short side in half and sew a side seam. Set the sewing machine pitch to the highest value and stitch the sewn strip around the edge. Gently pulling the lower thread, gather the second tier along the width of the lower edge of the upper tier and, having set the normal value of the sewing machine step, fold the tiers with the right sides and sew to each other.

Step 3

Sew the third strip of fabric also short sides, sew with a large stitch on a typewriter and gather to size the edges of the second tier and sew them together. Tuck the hem of the skirt and stitch to the edge, while sewing lace to it.

Step 4

Insert the elastic into the waistband, slightly supporting the side seam from the inside. Use a safety pin to insert the elastic. Sew the edges of the elastic by hand overlapping. Your tiered skirt is ready.
