Drawing flowers seems to be quite simple. However, this is only at first glance. In fact, this is painstaking work that requires a certain talent and skill. And if there are practically no problems with some single flower, then it is much more difficult to draw lilacs.

Step 1
On a piece of paper or whatman paper, in pencil, sketch out the outlines of the arrangement of flowers and leaves of lilac. Draw triangular, rounded curves to represent the lilac inflorescences. Draw diamond-shaped leaves. To complete the picture, you can depict a bouquet in a vase.
Step 2
Take a small piece of cotton wool and soak it in water. Squeeze out the cotton wool slightly and walk it over the paper. This is done to make the wash softer and smoother when working with watercolors. Put layers of watercolor on top of each other, waiting for them to dry.
Step 3
With light lilac and dark lilac paints, make cross-shaped stripes, imitating lilac flowers. Sketch a luscious palette and create a grid of lines where the flowers are located. Paint over the grid randomly so that the colors overlap.
Step 4
After the watercolor dries, use a thin brush to refine the details of the inflorescences and leaves. Use a lilac, pink and blue palette to indicate colors. Use watercolor masking fluid to mark the leaves. First cover the leaves with light green paint, and then, armed with a thin brush, darken the leaf with dark green paint, leaving the veins unpainted.
Step 5
After the bouquet is ready, proceed with the design of the vase. Remember that all the emphasis is on the bouquet of flowers and the vase is just an addition. Match the colors for the vase to match the overall pattern. Also, near the vase, you can sketch a few fallen flowers or lilac leaves.
