In addition to satin stitch and cross stitching, there is also ribbon embroidery - this is a reviving type of needlework, incredibly beautiful and, at the same time, uncomplicated in technique. Thus, you can embroider pictures, and individual wardrobe items, and handbags. Ribbon embroidery does not require complex devices and materials, and the result is visible from the very first stitches.

It is necessary

a needle with an extended end, colored satin ribbons 0.7 cm wide, floss or iris threads of green color, the fabric on which you are going to embroider, a hoop, a pencil, paper

Instructions

Step 1

To embroider lilacs, take ribbons from white to dark purple. It is better to embroider on gabardine, this fabric is well suited for embroidery with ribbons and is easy to wash. Take a drawing of a lilac from a needlework magazine, there are many drawings of lilacs for cross stitching.

Step 2

Transfer the drawing onto the fabric using a carbon copy. If you first decided to embroider with ribbons, then choose a simple pattern, literally from one lilac brush.

Step 3

Hoop the fabric over the hoop and knot the ribbon into a knot. Fold the edge and pierce it with a needle, fasten the knot from the wrong side and start embroidering. Embroider the tip of the lilac brush with a ribbon of a darker color, since the flowers have not yet blossomed there. Make the buds in one stitch: stick the needle from the inside out, and after 7 mm - back inside out.

Step 4

Underline the buds with a green thread, designate a branch with a stalk seam, embroider flowers and lilac buds on top of this branch (in some places the branch will be visible from under the flowers, it will turn out to be voluminous and realistic). Embroider flowers like buds, but four petals - from one point (1-2 mm apart).

Step 5

Gradually move to lighter flowers, alternating them for more believability. Cut the leaves out of green taffeta, burn the edges with a candle so that they don't wrinkle. Sew on the leaves, embroider flowers on top of them. Experiment with the embroidery technique, find your own form of execution of lilac flowers. Thus, you get a voluminous branch of lilac.

Step 6

For the first experience, this lilac is quite enough. You will learn how to work with ribbons and feel the urge to create more complex pictures. In the future, use twisted seams, bundles and braids, and in the process of work, mastery will come. Learn to secure tape stitches with blind stitches so that they do not deform or turn over. The embroidery element with ribbons can be attached to the bag as an applique, and to the bag it can be sewn ready-made.
