If you are into drawing and painting, you know how important the choice of paint and its various shades is to create a drawing. With the help of this or that shade, you can emphasize the mood of the picture, create a special atmosphere, observe the overall harmonious color scheme of the picture. In the ordinary palette of paints that you use, there are far from all possible shades, and therefore all artists know how to mix paints correctly in order to get new colors for painting.
Instructions
Step 1
You can mix paints in different ways - in some cases it is better to pre-mix the correct amount of paint on a palette or canvas. If you paint with watercolors, mix colors directly on paper - the transparent structure of watercolor allows you to create beautiful color transitions right on paper.
Step 2
When mixing different shades of paints, consider how well they interact with each other. If you mix red cinnabar and white lead, the paint will crack after a while and the beautiful pink shade will darken.
Step 3
Also remember that you can mix yellow, blue and reds with other shades to create a wider range of new colors. Moreover, these paints themselves - yellow, red and blue - cannot be obtained as a result of mixing, since they are the basis of any range.
Step 4
If you want green, mix equal amounts of yellow and blue. If you want lighter or darker shades of green, start adding more blue or more yellow to the resulting color. Try to mix only those colors that are close to each other in the color wheel - otherwise, the mixed shade will not turn out to be saturated.
Step 5
To get a gray paint, mix white and black paint in the right proportions. In the case of watercolor paint, simply dilute the black with water. When combined with white paper, thinned black paint will give a suitable gray tint.
Step 6
The less colors you use in a drawing, the more colorful it becomes. Consider this rule when painting. Remember which paints can be mixed with each other, and which cannot be, so that in the future the dried paints do not darken and do not crack due to chemical mismatch.
Step 7
To obtain some shades, you can mix not only two, but also three different colors. For example, to get purple, mix red and blue paint.
Step 8
For an orange hue, mix red and yellow; for a brown, mix red and green; if you want to get an apricot shade - mix red, ocher and white. For green, mix yellow with blue, for terracotta - orange with brown, for beige - brown, yellow and white.
