The Gospel - from the Greek “Good News” - four books of the New Testament, which testify to the fact of the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, that is, the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies and expectations of the Jews. There are four canonical gospels (John, Matthew, Luke and Mark) and a number of apocryphal ones not recognized by the church. Reading the Gospel is hampered by the difference between the Church Slavonic language and the Russian language and by the abundance of references to the Old Testament, allegories, hints and other ambiguities.

Step 1
Begin your gospel study by studying the language. Of course, you can turn to the Russian-language translation, but in it the words have lost not only their multifaceted meaning, but also the spirit, the beauty of sound and the mystery of pronunciation. The Church Slavonic language was specially created for storing and recording prayers and sacred books. A Church Slavonic textbook can be bought at any church or borrowed from a Christian friend.
Step 2
Find the book by A. Taushev "The Four Gospels". It is freely available on the Internet, including on the websites of theological institutes and academies. Read the interpretation of the chapters, write out the most important information in the synopsis.
Step 3
Read one gospel conception a day. Analyze what you read and compare with what you have learned. Check the meanings of incomprehensible words and phrases in reference books. Consult with more experienced Christians and priests.
