The original curtains, fixed to the eaves with the help of fabric hinges, will look great on niche windows and French doors.
It is necessary
- - fabric (cotton, linen, silk, English chintz);
- - sewing threads;
- - cornice with rods and tips
Instructions
Step 1
Curtains can be made without an allowance for the volume, in which case, when cutting, you need to add 10 cm to the width for the hem.
Step 2
If you want these curtains to form soft folds when closed, increase the width of the window by 1, 5 - 2 times. When sewing curtains that are looser in style, it is better, if possible, to avoid unnecessary joining seams.
Step 3
The width and length of the loops depends on the type of fabric and the thickness of the curtain rod. Heavyweight fabrics and thick curtain rods require wider and longer buttonholes than lightweight fabrics and thin fasteners. In this model, ready-made hinges are 4 cm wide and 10 cm long.
Step 4
Open it. The width of the seam allowance is 1.5 cm. Measure the width of the space that the curtains will cover, and add the required volume allowance and 10 cm for the hem of the side sections.
Step 5
Add 17.5 cm to the length of the finished curtain. Cut out blanks for loops 11 cm wide and 23 cm long. Prepare a separate part for the top facing: its width is 8 cm, the length is equal to the width of the main panel plus 3 cm.
Step 6
Iron the side sections of the main panel on the wrong side, first to a depth of 2.5 cm, then another 2.5 cm and stitch on the hem on the machine. Fold the buttonhole blanks in half lengthways, wrong side out, and stitch along the longitudinal cut.
Step 7
Cut off the seam allowances a little, iron them out. After turning the loops to the right side, iron the seams. Sew along the longitudinal sides as required. Fold each loop in half. Pin one loop at the side edges of the main panel from the front side.
Step 8
Evenly distribute the remaining loops between them, leaving gaps of 12, 5 - 15 cm between them. The loops should be pinned with untreated cuts up, aligning them with the upper edge of the curtain. Baste the loops.
Step 9
Place the piping piece face down over the bumped buttonholes, aligning the top edges of the piping and main panel. The short ends of the piping should protrude 1.5 cm from both sides of the curtain. Sew along the top edge.
Step 10
Unscrew the piping to the wrong side and press iron on. If you are working with sheer fabric, cut the seam allowances to a 1 cm width. Press the seam allowances on the three raw edges of the piping to the wrong side. Stitch the piping along the folded edges.
Step 11
Stitch the top edge of the curtain. Press the 8 cm deep double hem hem to the wrong side of the main panel. Sew on machine.
