Curtains with a lambrequin have long been successfully used in the decor of rooms. Lambrequin is a short piece of fabric that is designed to decorate an old cornice and give it a beautiful look. For a lambrequin, you can use any old short curtains or curtains.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a prepared piece of fabric, curtains or curtains. To make a lambrequin based on or a rigid lambrequin, prepare thick cardboard or a plank according to the size of your cut, cut or saw it out to the desired shape.
Step 2
Pre-measure the design of the fasteners to match your future lambrequin. To do this, measure the distance from the eyelet of the curtain ring to the desired length of the lower edge of the curtains.
Step 3
Cut out a lambrequin from the prepared material in shape and length, corresponding to a cardboard or board base. Glue the pelmet with a rigid glue base. Take the outline of the main fabric a couple of centimeters wider than the glue base. Before gluing, cut the glue base along the contour of the original pattern. To make the fabric easy to wrap without kinking, make multiple cuts at the edge tabs. Fold the trimmed fabric seam allowances and sew carefully by hand.
Step 4
The prepared lambrequin is attached to metal corners above the cornice and should protrude 5-7 centimeters from both sides of it.
Step 5
To make a soft lambrequin, you do not need any dense bases. Measure the length of the curtain rod and calculate the fabric, increasing the data obtained by one and a half to two times. Cut open the base fabric and lining.
Step 6
For the main fabric: add the height of the lambrequin to the length of the curtain and add 15 centimeters for the bottom hem and one and a half centimeters as a seam allowance for the top hem. For the lining fabric, the cutting is identical to the previous one, only a few centimeters shorter than the cutting of the base fabric.
Step 7
Sew the base fabric to the lining, and iron the seams. Finish cuts and folds. Sew the lambrequin lining to the curtain itself. Fold the lining and curtain right sides inward. Make sure the middle and seams and top edges are in perfect alignment.
Step 8
Pin the lining and curtain together to make it easier to work with. Sew the top edge, indenting three centimeters. Sew on the mounting tape and fold the curtain together. Throw the sewn lambrequin on the front side and hang the curtains.
