A children's Christmas tree is another reason to read fairy tales with a child and to fantasize about a carnival costume. It is better to prepare for the carnival in advance so that there is time to make the costume original and beautiful. For a girl, for example, you can make a mermaid costume.

It is necessary

  • knitted fabric
  • corset bone
  • silver acrylic paint

Instructions

Step 1

To make a mermaid tail, you need a piece of circular knitted fabric (also called a "knitted stocking") in blue or green. If for some reason you could not buy such a "stocking", then you can use a regular knitted fabric. It must be sewn along the long edge with an elastic seam, like a long narrow tube skirt. You will also need a corset bone, a piece of about 50 centimeters, and silver acrylic paint.

Step 2

Measure from a circular knitted fabric or pipe sewn by you to the desired length (along the length of the tail) and cut, adding 10 centimeters. Overlock the bottom and top cuts. Bend the top cut (about 7 cm) outward to form a small “roll”. This will be the beginning of the tail.

Step 3

Now try on the tail. Remove excess in the waist with darts and attach a zipper, or simply insert an elastic band into the lapel of the top.

Step 4

Next, you need to make a fin at the bottom of the tail. To do this, cut out two parts with a fold from the rest of the knitted fabric (remember a fairy tale or a cartoon - you need to make a fin of the same shape as, for example, Ariel's). Overlock the edges of each piece.

Step 5

Then sew the fin to the skirt. To do this, attach each fin piece to the bottom edge of the skirt, one to the front and the other to the back. Details are sewn to the skirt only along the upper cut. Then the fin details are sewn (from the sides), the lower cut remains open.

Step 6

Sections of a corset bone are inserted into the sides of the fin and carefully sewn up - this way it will keep its shape.

Step 7

It remains to paint stripes on the fin with acrylic paint, and scales or some patterns on the tail itself. The tail is ready.
