Socks in the shape of chickens are a great gift for a newborn. Bright and cute handmade booties will delight both the baby and others.
For a product with a foot length of 10 cm, you will need: yarn (53% wool, 47% cotton; 95 m / 50), 50 g each white A) and bright yellow (B): stocking needles 5; short circular needles 5; hook 5; remnants of gray and orange yarn; buttonhole markers (can be replaced with paper clips).
Garter knitting (knitting in rows in the forward and backward direction): front and back rows of front loops (the front side of the work is the one where the tail of the thread from the set of loops is located at the bottom left).
Knit stitch (circular knitting): knit stitches.
Increase of 1 loop: knit 1 crossed from the broach.
Knitting density: 22 loops * 35 rows 10 * 10 cm, knitted with front stitch.
Work description. On 2 knitting needles # 5, cast on 6 loops with white thread (A) and start knitting the sole:
1st row: knit 6.
Start the 2nd row with 1 front, 1 increase (knit 1 cross from the broach), 4 front, 1 increase, 1 front = 8 loops.
3rd row: knit.
4th row: 1 front, 1 increase, 6 front, 1 increase, 1 front, it should turn out = 10 loops.
5-33, 35th row: we do the work with the front ones.
From the 34th row, we begin to reduce the sole: after 1 front, then knit 2 loops together with the front, 4 front loops, knit 2 loops together with the front one, 1 front = 8 loops.
36th row: after 1 front, make 2 loops together with the front, 2 front loops, 2 loops together with the front, 1 front, in the end there will be 6 loops.
Row 37: Knit. Without cutting the thread, continue working with white yarn with the side of the product in a circular knit. To do this, on the circular knitting needles, dial 42 loops along the edge of the sole and knit the remaining 6 loops of the foot (this will form the heel loops) with 48 loops on the knitting needles. Following this, distribute the loops over 2 knitting needles so that the circular row starts from the middle of the heel, 24 loops, on each knitting needle.
Then knit with circular needles: 1st row: purl 48.
Rows 2-7: knit with bright yellow knit yarn, while in row 7 mark the middle of the front of the booties with a marker or paperclip.
8th row: knit up to 8 loops in front of the marked middle, then knit 2 loops together 8 times. Then knit to the end of the row = 40 loops.
9-11th row: knit loops.
10th row: after knitting up to 6 loops in front of the marked middle, then 6 times in 2 loops together, knit together, knit forward to the end of the row = 54 loops.
12th row: similarly knit with the front to 6 loops in front of the marked middle, then knit 2 loops together with the front 6 times, and then knit to the end of the row with the front = 28 loops.
Row 13: Bind off all sts. Leave the thread without cutting. Continue crocheting with bright yellow yarn (B), tying the top edge: in each loop, knit 28 single crochets in a single crochet. At the same time, along the line of the back middle between 2 single crochets, form a loop of 10 air loops. Cut the thread, securing the end.
Make a yellow fluffy top for the chicken, which will consist of a chain of air loops about 10 cm long. Cut the thread, keeping the long end. Having folded the chain with 4 loops, fix it in the center of the front part of the booties, according to the image in the photo. Thread the end of the thread inward.
At the end of the work, embroider the eyes (1 loop * 1 row) on the front of each bootie with a gray thread with a cross stitch. Draw a triangular beak with an orange thread with a stem seam (2 loops * 3 rows). Funny socks for the baby are ready.
