Sleeveless socks can be made on stocking needles using a spiral pattern of loops. A well-thought-out knitted pattern allows you to create simple, elastic and almost oversized products. They perfectly wrap the leg, anatomically repeating all the individual features of its structure. In addition, the finished socks have an original design.
Socks without heel: elastic
Perform socks on ordinary stocking needles: four working tools will close into a square, the fifth will become working. Before knitting, find out the coverage of the shin of the future owner of the product and dial the required number of loops. Divide them into four equal parts and distribute them on the knitting needles.
Tie a regular 2x2 elastic in a clockwise circular motion: alternate a pair of knit stitches and a pair of purl stitches in sequence. When the height of the tubular fabric reaches three to four centimeters, proceed to the execution of the main spiral pattern.
Knitting socks in a spiral is a practical choice for children, since the shape of the products allows them to be worn for a rather long time, despite the growth of the foot.
Spiral socks on the needles: basic pattern
Tie four circular rows with a 5x5 elastic band (alternating five knit stitches and the same number of purl stitches). When you have finished the last row of stretch fabric, secure a pin or contrasting thread in place of the last stitching loop - this will help you not lose the border of the subsequent shift of the loops.
Work the fifth round of the spiral, shifting the elastic pattern one thread to the left. After four circles, move the pin (contrasting thread) to the beginning of the current row and again offset the knit pattern to the left by the loop. Continue to work according to the described pattern, not forgetting to shift the pattern on the same sections of the canvas. You will get a tubular knit in the form of a twisted spiral.
For best wear resistance, knit toes with 100% sturdy wool, such as merino wool.
How to knit a toe of a sock
Tie the sock to the desired length, make a test fitting. In a spiral knitting pattern, you can make short products, models of medium height, knee-highs. When you've finished working to the base of your toes, start shaping the toe. Go to hosiery (knit only). At the end of the current row, on each of the first and third needles, knit together an adjacent pair of thread arms.
At the beginning of the second knitting needle and on the fourth, proceed as follows:
- remove the second thread bow without knitting;
- perform the next loop with the front one;
- Pull the bow, removed untied, through the resulting loop.
Form the toe of the spiral sock until you have only eight stitches left on the knitting needles. After that, cut the working yarn and pull it through the open bows. Tighten the top of the garment, hook the tail of the thread on the wrong side of the sock, and pull it inward. Perform the second toe without a heel exactly like the first. So that after washing the pattern does not deform, twist wet products in a spiral and leave it until completely dry.
