To record a movie from your TV to DVD, make sure it has the recording function itself. Such a device is called a DVD-recorder. Many DVD recorders have built-in hard drives, but you can burn your movie to a regular DVD as well.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect the DVD to your TV using connectors that allow recording. Make sure the video and audio outputs on your TV are paired with the video and audio inputs on your DVD recorder. If you have a SCART connector on your TV, please note that there may be two of them: one for playback (indicated by an icon in the form of a circle with an arrow pointing inward), the other for recording (the icon will look like a circle with an arrow pointing outward). Be sure to connect both connectors to your recorder, otherwise you will not be able to record.

Step 2

Insert a disc into your DVD burner. Select the type of disc depending on whether you will save the recording forever or just want to watch it once and then burn another movie to this disc. DVD-R will let you burn a movie once, while DVD-RW can be rewritten multiple times.

Step 3

Make a test recording to make sure everything is connected correctly and both sound and video are being recorded. Better to use a rewritable disc for this.

Step 4

If you watch the same movie while recording, then wait for it to start and just press the record button. If you are not at home during the broadcast of the movie, or you want to watch a different channel, program your DVD recorder to record the start and end times of the movie.

Step 5

The recording quality is greatly affected by the input signal. Adjust the antenna so that the input signal is at its maximum. Then the recording will be without interference, flicker and distortion. When recording to the built-in hard disk of the recorder, you will not be able to view it on other media, but the recording quality will be slightly better than on a DVD.
