The word pyrography literally means painting with fire. This type of arts and crafts allows you to create original woodwork. Pyrographic masters use special devices to burn drawings and patterns on the surface of an object, constantly improving their skills. But even if you don't have drawing skills, wood burning will not seem too difficult for you. In addition, pyrography can be a great hobby not only for adults, but also for children.
It is necessary
pyrograph (burning device), piece of wood, fine sandpaper, varnish
Instructions
Step 1
The wood products you use must be sanded beforehand. It is best to buy them from specialized stores. It should also be remembered that pyrography is more suitable for decorating household items made of wood (boxes, spoons, combs, small furniture) than for paintings.
Step 2
Transfer the drawing to the wood using tracing paper and carbon paper, or draw by hand. You can make your own copy paper by painting over a sheet of paper with a soft pencil. Remember that the drawing must have a clear outline.
Step 3
Each pyrograph has a knob that controls the power of the device by changing the heating temperature. Thus, you can choose the depth and intensity of the lines. For light, subtle lines, set the knob to the lowest power setting, for thicker, deeper lines, to the highest.
Step 4
To create the tone of the picture and soft shadows, a gas burner is usually used, the power and temperature of which can be adjusted. With its help, you can make smooth transitions of color and shadow. Also, for this purpose, at first, you can use wood stain or ordinary acrylic paints.
Step 5
Finish the work with fine sandpaper and varnish. Now it is a ready-made souvenir that you can give or use as a decoration for your home.
