For a novice seamstress, the best option for sewing a dress is a product with a minimum number of measurements and complex seams. It will be easy to cope with such a task, taking as a basis your favorite T-shirt or T-shirt. Please note that for sewing simple one-layer garments, you should opt for fabrics with a bright print so that it does not show through.
First option
In order to quickly sew a chiffon dress, you need only two measurements and your favorite T-shirt with a straight neck with spaghetti straps. The first measure is the length of the product. Having folded the fabric in half with the right side inward, lay the shirt on it so that the neckline coincides with the top edge of the fabric. After that, circle the shirt along the contour, gradually expanding to the bottom, and extend the marking to the required length of the product.
Cut out the pieces, fold them in half to smooth out any inaccuracies, and then return them to their original position. Then sew the dress on the sides. Finish the hem of the dress and the arm cutouts by tucking the fabric twice and overlapping with a straight stitch.
On the front and back of the neckline, make a drawstring equal to the width of the ribbon, thanks to which the dress will be held on the shoulders. To do this, tuck the edge of the neckline, as in cutting, and slide the fabric down so that the tape can easily pass into the drawstring. Baste a seam, then sew a straight stitch.
Take the second measurement, which is the length of the top of the dress. The extreme point is the center of the chest (the place where the drawstring will be located), and the lower one will be at the level of the future high waist of the product under the bust. Set the resulting piece aside on the fabric. Draw a perpendicular line along the bottom point of the line. Sew an elastic at this mark. It should be long enough not to pinch your body.
Turn the dress inside out and thread the tape. Feel free to put on the product, tie the ribbon and go for a walk!
Second option
For the second method of sewing a chiffon dress, you will also need your favorite T-shirt with wide straps or a T-shirt. As in the previous version, the fabric should be folded in half and the T-shirt should be contoured, adding a few centimeters for the allowances. Then the details should be cut out. The lower part of the garment must be cut off separately, based on the desired length of the dress.
Next, you need to sew the upper and lower parts of the dress on the sides and process all the sections, as indicated in the description of the first model of the dress. The belt line of the lower part must be assembled in such a way that it is equal in width to the bottom of the upper part. Next, you need to tuck the gathered belt and sew the drawstring, as described above. Leave a small slit so that you can insert the elastic later. It remains only to sew the top and bottom of the product, stretch the elastic into the drawstring and sew up the hole. The new dress is ready!
