Red poppies attract attention with their brightness and beauty. They can be made from different materials, but the most spectacular flowers are obtained from thin chiffon. They can be used to decorate hairpins, pins, brooches and hoops, attach to a dress, topic or a simple knitted T-shirt.
Preparation of parts for making poppy
To make a poppy from chiffon, you will need:
- red silk chiffon 7 cm long;
- a small piece of black chiffon;
- lighter;
- scissors;
- threads to match the fabric;
- a needle;
- small beads or beads of black color;
- glue gun;
- cardboard.
Make a cardboard template for the poppy petals. Draw the outlines of the part about 5-7 cm high and the same width at the widest part.
Attach the template to the red chiffon, trace along the contour and cut out. Make 6 poppy petals in the same way.
Burn the edges of each petal with a lighter (or over a burning candle). While the fabric is still hot, press them lightly with your fingers and stretch them to make them wavy. This technique will give the flower a more lush and natural shape.
To make the petals more expressive, vein them. Heat the chiffon parts slightly by holding them to a lighter or candle. Then fold out several times along and slide your fingers along the fold. If the lines are not very clear, then do it again. You can also make veins in another way. To do this, it is necessary to draw lines along the heated fabric with the blunt side of the knife.
Make a blank for the middle of the poppy. Cut a square with sides of 5x5 cm from black chiffon. Draw a line of a circle with a diameter of 4 cm.
Assembling the poppy
Sew around the center of the black chiffon poppy with small basting stitches. Pull the thread and stuff the resulting bag with the scraps left over after cutting the petals.
Tighten the thread and sew a few stitches under the resulting ball to secure. With a needle forward stitch, sew the middle of the poppy diagonally, so that the stitches are perpendicular to each other, pull the stitches slightly. Carefully cut off the remaining chiffon under the ball and burn off the edges with a lighter.
Sew 3 petals to the prepared center, placing them in a circle so that the folded edges are directed upwards. Make the bottom row of petals. Place the remaining 3 pieces between the pieces of the first row and sew them to the middle with a seam over the edge.
Decorate the middle of the poppy with small beads. It is convenient to glue them with a cool gun. Apply a drop of hot glue to the bead and place it in the middle of the poppy. If you want to decorate a flower with beads, then it is more convenient to apply glue to the surface of the product, and then pour the required number of beads onto it.
