Foam rubber is an excellent material for making dolls. Ordinary toys and many other soft things are made of it. A single layer of this material may be sufficient for a pillow or mattress. If you want a thicker pillow, squares and rectangles need to be held together somehow. It is also necessary to sew individual parts when making a life size puppet. At the same time, its foam rubber frame should keep its shape well.

It is necessary

  • - a thick needle with a wide eye;
  • - Knitting;
  • - scissors;
  • - a strip of cotton fabric;
  • - glue "Moment".

Instructions

Step 1

Cut out the necessary details. For a pillow or mattress, you need several squares or rectangles of the same shape and size. Their number is determined by the thickness of the foam rubber. Make the details of the life-size puppet according to the pattern. It may happen that in some places you have to use foam rubber in one layer, and in others - in two or even more.

Step 2

Place the details for the pillow and mattress one on top of the other. Align the edges. These products do not need to be stitched around the entire perimeter. Multiple attachment points can be made. Better if they are at the same distance from each other. Mark them on the top layer.

Step 3

Thread the knitting thread into a large needle. It is good if you have a coat of medium thickness with some kind of synthetic impurity. In this case, the thread will not only be fluffy, but also strong enough. Tie a knot. Pierce through all the foam layers and pull the thread to the underside. Sew a stitch, re-pierce the entire thickness and pull the thread out. Sew a couple more stitches in the same way.

Step 4

Cut 2 4x4 cm squares from cotton fabric. Spread them with glue, let dry a little and press to the attachment point from the top and bottom. It is the square that needs to be smeared, since "Moment" can dissolve the foam rubber.

Step 5

To make a life size puppet or mask, combine the cuts of the foam parts. Sew them in the same way as in the first case, with woolen threads. It is most convenient to sew over the edge. You can also use a buttonhole stitch. Both options allow you to adjust the stitch tension, which is very important for keeping the shape. Slide the part onto the blank if necessary.

Step 6

Cut a strip out of the fabric 3-4 cm wide and equal to the length of the seam. Spread it with glue, let it dry and put it on the seam. Press down firmly on the seam.
