Styrofoam is a cheap and affordable material, from which crafts can be made with children. It's easy to use, and if you get creative, you can make wonderful New Year's Eve souvenirs. You can decorate a Christmas tree with foam snowmen or use it to decorate a room, give them to friends and family.
Styrofoam flat snowman
Draw three circles of different diameters on a piece of cardboard or a piece of paper, folding which you will get a snowman of the desired size. Place these circles on a flat piece of styrofoam and trace around them with a pen or felt-tip pen. Use a sharp knife to cut out the blanks.
Use hot glue to glue the circles together. You will also need two small round foam blanks to make the hands for your craft. Cut them out and glue them to the middle circle.
Styrofoam circles can be fastened together quickly and easily with wooden toothpicks.
Make a snowman hat. To do this, roll a cone out of colored paper and glue it on the head of the toy. Use red or orange colored paper to make a second cone for the snowman's nose. Paint the eyes with acrylic paint or glue on matching buttons or beads. Draw the mouth with paint.
Cut a strip out of a piece of shiny fabric or brown paper and tie it around the snowman's neck like a scarf. Glue a spruce branch to the mug, which implies the hand of the craft. Make a loop of thin braid that you attach to the top circle, then your snowman will take its place on the tree.
Volumetric snowman
Place a plasticine pancake on a piece of cardboard or an old DVD. Stick a wooden skewer into it. On the disc, try not to hit the hole with a skewer. Rub a piece of styrofoam on a coarse grater. You should get even, small pieces, without large blotches.
To sculpt snowman balls, make salt dough. To do this, mix 1 tbsp. salt and 1 tbsp. flour. Add about 1/3 tbsp. water. You should have a tough dough. Roll three balls of different sizes out of it. Dip them in foam crumbs. Place them on a wooden skewer, making a snowman.
Pre-made styrofoam balls can be purchased at art and craft stores.
Stick two branches into the middle lump, which can be previously painted with acrylic paint, or you can not paint. Draw the eyes and mouth of the snowman with a contour on ceramics or paints. Sculpt the nose from plasticine. Tie a fleece scarf around your neck.
Place a bucket on the snowman's head. Cut a rectangle out of colored thick paper. Its width will be equal to the height of the bucket you want to get. Roll the blank into a cylinder and glue it. Place the cylinder on the paper and draw a circle. Then cut it out by adding half a centimeter to the fold. Fold the edges of the circle and glue it to the cylinder, making the bottom of the bucket. Cut a piece of stainless steel wire and poke it through two holes on opposite sides of the bucket. Pull the ends of the wire out and twist with round-nose pliers to prevent the handle from falling out. Glue the bucket onto the snowman's head.
