It is difficult to imagine a boy who has never dreamed of building a crossbow in his life. Self-propelled devices are a dangerous thing in and of themselves in inept hands. Therefore, we will restrict ourselves to a completely harmless toy made of the simplest materials and not capable of harming others.

Step 1
To make a toy crossbow, we need an ordinary wooden clothespin, matches, a sharp knife, a file or file, sandpaper.
Step 2
Take a wooden clothespin and take it apart. There should be three elements in front of you: two wooden halves and a metal spring with holders.
Step 3
Fold the clothespin, but not in the way it is supposed to be in working order, but attach the outer long surfaces to each other. In this case, the grooves, into which the spring holders usually enter, must coincide with each other.
Step 4
In the direction from the grooves to the tail of the clothespin, mark on the side with a pencil strips about a centimeter long. The exact size is determined by the length of the match, set aside from the nose of the clothespin.
Step 5
The marked areas must be removed. The depth of the material to be selected on each half of the clothespin should be approximately half the thickness of the match. Use a sharp knife to select the marked areas of wood.
Step 6
In one of the halves of the clothespin (closer to the tail), make a recess for the thickness of the spring holder with a knife or a suitable file. It will serve to engage the drummer.
Step 7
Take one of the halves of the clothespin and use a sharp knife to make a longitudinal groove from the nose to the area you previously selected. Do the same with the other half of the clothespin. If you now fold the parts of the clothespin together again, then both grooves form the future crossbow barrel or a guide groove along which the match will move.
Step 8
The match should move freely in the groove and without interference. Therefore, the groove should be additionally processed with sandpaper.
Step 9
Tie both pieces of wood together and tie them neatly with a strong thread around the grooves. Insert a spring that will act as a bolt and striker. Charge the spring. Insert the match with the head outward from the bow of the crossbow. The match will act as an arrow.
Step 10
Your dashing crossbow is ready for shooting training. By pulling the spring trigger, you will activate the striker, which will click on the match, sending it flying. The weapon, of course, is not lethal, but it requires careful handling and compliance with safety measures.
