Small antique wallets have ceased to be a collectible and have become a relevant and fashionable vintage accessory for many modern girls and women. In the most advantageous situation there are girls who got such wallets from their parents and grandparents - the rest have to look for old wallets in antique shops, in markets, at auctions, and of course, with the proper ability to sew themselves.
It is necessary
- - dense fabric
- - lining
- - thin lace
- - metal theme
Instructions
Step 1
Making a small, vintage-style wallet is a snap. You will need a thick, bright fabric, lining, thin lace, and a metal theme - a rounded frame with a clasp that is used on handbags and wallets. You can remove the femoir from an old shabby wallet, or you can buy it at an accessories store.
Step 2
To begin with, make a pattern according to the size of the memoir - on paper, draw the outlines of the inside and outside of the rounded wallet. Then take a plain lining fabric and a multi-colored face fabric, and cut out two parts from them according to the pattern.
Step 3
Sew on the sewing machine the front parts together with the lining ones, placing them on the wrong side, along the lower semicircle, then glue a piece of cardboard to the center of the lining parts on each side.
Step 4
Turn the colored parts right out, then insert the lining “pocket” inside. Iron the stitched parts with an iron.
Step 5
Use pins to make small folds on the top of the parts and sew the inside and outside of the wallet together along the top edge. The pins can then be removed.
Step 6
Take a metal memoir and, using a toothpick or any thin stick, insert the top of the fabric into it - first on one side of the wallet, then on the other.
Step 7
After the edges of the fabric have been placed in the slit of the memoir, fill in the slit with additional pieces of cord. Take a pair of pliers and through a piece of cloth so as not to damage the metal, pinch the edges of the memoir in a circle. Decorate your wallet as you see fit.
