Tablature is a variant of musical notation for a musical instrument. It differs from the usual universal recording of musical works in that it shows exactly which place on the neck needs to be clamped in order to get a specific sound. Normal musical notation shows only pitch and duration, and the position is determined by the performer. Most often, tablatures are written for strings with a fretboard.

Instructions
Step 1
Remember the string numbers. For all plucked instruments, without exception, the first string is the thinnest. The account comes from her. It is also very useful to learn what sound is produced on each open string. Both Russian and Latin designations will come in handy. So, on a six-string guitar, the first string gives sounds of E, it is also E. On a seven-stringed guitar it will be d, that is D. Accordingly, in the first case, the remaining strings will be H (in some Western notation systems - B), G, D, A, E. The tuning of a seven-string guitar looks like this: D, H, G, D, H, G, D. For this guitar, Russian designations are adopted, that is, B will always be H. But there are options for the last string, you can tune it in several ways. Therefore, first of all, find out for which scale the tablature is written.
Step 2
Learn the fret numbers. They begin to count from the bar. The first fret is found immediately after the nut. On guitars, the fifth, seventh, tenth and twelfth frets are most often denoted, but options are also possible here. Therefore, count which frets are marked with dots or asterisks on your instrument.
Step 3
Look at any tablature. Pay attention to how many rulers there are and how they are indicated. Most often, the rulers are arranged horizontally, and the string numbers are written to the left. But there is no single standard, so everyone writes down in the way that suits him best. Either way, lay the sheet so that the string numbers are on your left.
Step 4
See how the frets are indicated. On some tablatures, they are drawn, and there is a number above or below - as a rule, Roman. There can only be numbers. Find the right fret on your guitar.
Step 5
Find the icons that represent the position of the sounds. Place your fingers on them in a way that suits you best. On some tablatures, fingering is also indicated. For example, a number in a circle located on the desired fret of the desired string. But this is not always the case, usually just a cross or a dot is put.
