An organza bedspread is a great solution if you want to create a bedroom interior in the same style as the window opening. In this case, you should choose the same fabric for the bed from which the curtains were sewn. In order for the cover to keep its shape and not wear out for a long time, it must be sealed with a soft synthetic winterizer lining and a lower linen layer. It is advisable to quilt the product on a sewing machine and decorate with beautiful ruffles.

It is necessary

  • - organza cut;
  • - cotton cloth;
  • - synthetic winterizer;
  • - contrasting thread;
  • - lace braid.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare working materials for sewing organza bedspreads. Cut out the main panel according to the size of the bed and add allowances for hem and seams of 3-3.4 cm. You will also need the lower layers of padding polyester ("filling") and cotton fabric to match the organza (seamy part of the future product).

Step 2

According to the main pattern, cut out two cotton parts of the bedspread and one padding polyester, however, leave a margin of at least 4-6 cm along the edge of these parts. This "pie" will have to be quilted, therefore it is necessary to provide for a stitch allowance.

Step 3

Lay all the layers for the bedspread one on top of the other in the following sequence: cotton (bottom) -sintepon-cotton-organza (top). To prevent the material from wriggling during sewing, pierce it with special long stitch pins (size 28).

Step 4

Use the quilting foot to sew the coverlet from center to edge. The stitches can be arranged in the form of a cell, a diagonal lattice or a curly stitch according to the pattern on the organza. Mark the quilting lines in advance with chalk so as not to break the symmetry of the pattern. To simplify your task, you can choose a cotton lining in a large check or strip and use a ready-made pattern for stitching.

Step 5

Carefully trim the edges of the quilted bedspread with tailor's scissors and trim them with decorative lace. Now you can start creating organza ruffles (or any companion fabric that matches the color and structure).

Step 6

Calculate the ruffle pattern. To do this, you need to measure the length of the main panel from three sides and multiply the result by two. Find out the height from the floor to the bed; add 3 cm allowances along the edges of the frills. Sew a strip of the future decorative border according to the finished pattern.

Step 7

Along the three edges of the main part of the organza bedspread, mark the boundaries of each future fold and begin to form a frill, manually basing it to the lace edge of the main panel. Then zigzag the machine stitch and carefully remove the basting.

Step 8

Finish off the bedspread by decorating the connecting seams and the edges of the ruffles with lace tape. If you wish, you can run a thick contrasting thread along the bottom - it will look quite interesting if colored organza is used. In this case, be sure to choose a thread that matches the main tone of the product.
