To sew a men's dressing gown, you need a terry cloth or velsoft with a length of 2.5 meters. You will also need:
- tape measure;
- scissors;
- threads to match the fabric;

- sewing machine.
How to cut out details for sewing a robe
Make a pattern directly on the fabric. Spread the fabric in a single layer on a smooth, level surface, wrong side up. Draw, stepping back from the edge 4 cm, a rectangle 2 m 40 cm long and 100 cm wide. Cut the detail, leaving 2 cm and 4 cm seam allowances for the hem of the bottom of the robe. Fold the rectangle in half across. Mark the middle and cut lengthwise to the fold line.
To form a neckline, set aside 10 cm and 50 cm down on both sides of the fold along the fold. Connect the points and cut the element along the marked lines.
For the sleeves, cut out 2 rectangles 60 cm long and 40 cm wide. You will also need two squares with 20 cm sides for pockets and two equal parts for a placket and a belt 12 cm wide and 1.55 m long. When cutting terry cloth, the edges crumble very much, so after you cut out the parts, vacuum all the cuts.
Features of sewing men's terry robe
Start sewing a men's terry dressing gown. Fold the front and back part across with the right side inward and sew the side seams. Fold back the allowance to one side and sew again along the cut. This technique will allow you to make the seams flat enough, when wearing a robe, they will not bring inconvenience to their owner.
Sew the sleeves with the same seam and sew them into the armholes. Fold the bottom cut to the wrong side by 1 cm, and then another 3 cm and sew at a distance of 2-3 mm from the fold of the fabric.
Treat the neckline and midline of the gown with a placket. Fold the piece in half. Attach it to the cut, starting from the bottom of one of the shelves, and pin with tailor's pins. Then, in the same way, attach the piece to the neck and wrap line of the second shelf. Stitch the details, remove the pins, cut off the excess fabric and process the sections with a bias tape.
Tuck the bottom edge of the robe inside out twice and hem on the sewing machine. Sew the top edge of the pockets with a bias tape. Turn the other three sides to the wrong side by 1 cm. Having stepped back from the bottom edge of the shelves 50 cm, attach the prepared details of the pockets and stitch them on a typewriter, while at the entrance to the pockets, make bartacks by stitching small triangles.
For a belt, fold the rectangle across and stitch short cuts and along the entire length of the piece, leaving 10 cm unstitched in the middle. Through the resulting hole, turn both sides of the part to the front and straighten the ends of the part. Sew the hole with a blind seam.
