Instructions

Step 1

Protect the table you will be working on from dirt. Cover it with paper (but not newspaper: ink can be printed on the threads) or oilcloth. To prevent glue from getting on your clothes, put on an apron, and it is better to wear rubber gloves on your hands.

Step 2

To make balls, you need quality glue. It can be colorless stationery or PVA. PVA is more suitable when working with thick threads - it holds the entire structure better. Find a tall, narrow plastic container. Pour some glue in there and close the jar.

Step 3

The appearance of the finished product depends on the choice of threads. If you use the balls in their original form, without decorating them with anything additionally, then pay special attention to the color of the threads. Their thickness can be any. From thin ones, airy weightless cobwebs are obtained, jute cords help to create a textured object that will stand out in the interior.

Step 4

Select a sewing needle that will fit the selected thread into the eyelet. If you are using a very thick cord, instead of a needle, you can take the wire and twist it into a loop, inserting the end of the cord into the center of the loop.

Step 5

Use a needle and thread to pierce the jar of glue through. If you are using wire, the hole can be made with an awl. It is important that it is not more than the diameter of the thread, otherwise the glue will flow out or cover the thread with a too thick layer.

Step 6

Inflate the balloons to the required size. You can use balls not only round, but also elongated, the thread mesh will repeat any smooth outlines. Tie the end of the ball tightly and lubricate its entire surface with a thin layer of cream or oil - this is done so that the threads do not stick to it and do not get wrinkled when pulling it out.

Step 7

Passing the thread through the container of glue, wrap it around the ball. Try to apply it evenly, adjusting the density (i.e. the number of layers) according to your intention.

Step 8

Leave the wrapped ball to dry for at least one day. Then untie the end of the ball or pierce it and remove. The remaining ball of thread can be used as a separate decoration or as part of decorative compositions.
