A fluff or pom-pom for a hat is often used as a decoration. It can be both on top of the hat and at the ends of the ears - a variant of a hat with earflaps. A pompom is a decoration made of spherical threads. Bulky threads can be used to make fluffy donuts. To get hard pom-poms, crocheted fabric must be tightly stuffed with any suitable material (for example, cotton wool).

It is necessary

Thick cardboard, threads according to the color of your hat, scissors, a needle with a large eye

Instructions

Step 1

Making a donut for a hat is not difficult. Using a compass, draw a circle on thick cardboard, the outer diameter of which will be 6 cm. In the center of the resulting circle, draw a circle with a diameter of 2 cm.

Step 2

Cut out both of the resulting circles. Make a second, exactly the same pattern and fold the two patterns together.

Step 3

Take a thread about two meters long and start winding. Wrap a circle around your cardboard ring, passing the thread through the inner circle. After three turns, secure the tail of the thread under the wound circle and then continue winding the thread. The winding should be loose, but not weak.

Step 4

Cover the surface of your template in rows. Put the second row on the first. And all subsequent rows fit into the previous ones. Then the pompom will be round and even.

Step 5

Hide the ended thread under the turns and take another. Fasten the ponytails of the thread under the turns. Coil until the opening of the inner circle is quite narrow.

Step 6

Thread the needle and continue winding. When the needle gets through with great difficulty, finish this stage of the work. Fasten the end of the thread under the turns.

Step 7

Spread the turns neatly in one place. Find cardboard mugs under the threads. Cut the threads in a circle between them. It is necessary to cut carefully, strictly between the cardboard patterns.

Step 8

Pull the prepared thread between the cardboard circles, wrap the bundle three times and tie it with a strong knot.

Step 9

Now remove the cardboard templates and trim the uneven threads with scissors, giving the pompom a rounded shape.
