It is not always possible to calculate the number of threads to create a thing. Therefore, handicraft lovers often have a lot of skeins of yarn. If the accumulated glomeruli may be enough for the set goal, but the wide range of colors interferes, do not despair. This problem can be easily solved. It doesn't take long to dye the yarn, and you end up with an excellent result.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare utensils for dyeing threads. A clean, enamelled saucepan is fine. The volume of the container should be such that you can freely place the material without crushing it and cover it with a dye. During processing, the threads must be completely immersed in the liquid. Remember, the more dye you use, the better the result will be.
Step 2
Try not to use hard water to dilute the dye. If there is nothing to choose from, then first soften the liquid with ammonia or vinegar. Prepare 2 sturdy wooden reversing sticks.
Step 3
Clean material before painting. Woolen yarn should be soaked in soapy water for 40-50 minutes, cotton yarn should be boiled in soap-soda solution diluted with water in equal proportions. After cleaning, rinse the threads thoroughly in warm water. Tie the skeins of yarn in several places so that they do not fray during turning.
Step 4
Dilute the dye solution as indicated on the package. Bring to a creamy state, then, stirring constantly, add hot water at the rate of 0.5 liters per 1 package. Strain the resulting composition through clean cheesecloth and pour into a container prepared for staining. You must first pour warm water into the dishes.
Step 5
Before dyeing, soak the yarn again in warm water, then wring it out slightly. If you are planning to change the color of several skeins, then you need to string them on a long rope, this will help to turn the yarn over.
Step 6
Place the container on fire. Dip the threads into the dye solution. Place the ends of the rope on which the skeins are strung on the edge of the pot so that you can easily pick up the yarn. Turn the threads over every 10 minutes and support with one stick. Another one needs to level the skeins so that they are evenly painted over. Bring the solution to a boil. Dye the yarn for an hour without removing the dishes from the heat.
Step 7
After dyeing, rinse the yarn thoroughly, first in warm and then in cold water. Gently wring out the threads, straighten and lay to dry on a horizontal surface.
