There are three types of skiing: classic, skate and general ski, and versatile skis are great for skiing in either of the first two styles. When choosing universal skis, keep in mind that all skis can be divided into several groups.
Instructions
Step 1
When choosing skis, decide for what purpose you will use them. Professional skis. Buy these skis if you are confident on the track. This type is the most expensive, but they are very light.
Step 2
Amateur skis. If you are just starting to ski - stop your choice on this type of ski, they are also suitable for experienced skiers who have not yet reached a professional level. Amateur skis are heavier than professional skis, but the price is much lower.
Step 3
Tourist skis. Everything is clear from the name. If you are planning a ski trip, this type of ski is perfect for you. They are distinguished by their considerable width, greater rigidity, and also have special notches on the lower surface (so that the skis do not slip).
Step 4
Walking skis. Also very wide, have notches, but lighter than tourist, suitable for short walks. Children's and junior skis. Most often they are made of plastic and have fasteners for ordinary shoes. They are specially designed for the weight and strength category of the child.
Step 5
Decide on your preferred ski build. By the type of structure, skis can be divided into classic and carving. You can distinguish them by their appearance, classic skis look straight, and carving skis seem to be fitted (narrowing towards the center, widening towards the ends). Choose the latter if you are a beginner, they will be more stable.
Step 6
Choose a material. They make skis from wood and plastic. Nowadays, plastic skis are extremely popular, and wooden skis can hardly be bought anywhere. Plastic skis are stronger, more durable, not prone to flaking and wetting, they are lighter and faster than their wooden brothers.
