Instructions
Step 1
Knitting requires 2 pairs of circular needles. You can replace some of the knitting needles with fishing line or an ordinary thick thread, onto which you will lower the loops awaiting work. Knitting is based on front loops, which will give the headdress a smooth surface without a pattern. It is very good to use soft, but not fluffy yarn for such a model, for example, angora or alpaca thread.
Step 2
Cast on 160 stitches on the needles. This is a double set, since the hat will not only be double, but also one-piece knitted, that is, without a single seam. Close the loops in a circle and start knitting according to the pattern: * 1 front loop, 1 loop is removed on an additional knitting needle *. As a result, one set of loops (80 pcs.) Will be on the main knitting needles, and the second set will go to additional circular knitting needles or fishing line (thread).
Step 3
First, knit in a circle with the front stitch those loops that are on the main knitting needles. On circular knitting needles, the front gaze will be located on only one side - from the front. Take into account the chosen model of the cap, which can be with or without a lapel. If the hat has a lapel, then the height of the product should be increased by the width of the lapel.
Step 4
Knit about one third of the height of the hat (if without a lapel), then begin to reduce the number of loops so that the hat fits snugly around the head. Divide the total number of stitches into 4 parts. Make a mark at the beginning of each wedge with a different color of thread, so as not to lose the place where the loops are reduced.
Step 5
Decrease at the beginning and at the end of each wedge, knitting 2 stitches together with the front ones. Knit the next row without reducing. Repeat the decrease through each row, as a result of which the shape of the cap takes a rounded shape. In addition, neat, barely noticeable grooves are formed in these places, which can be regarded as decorative elements. After the number of loops is reduced to 2 in each wedge, pull the thread through them, tighten it and secure from the wrong side.
Step 6
Transfer the remaining loops from the secondary to the main knitting needles and work according to the same pattern, without changing anything. As a result, you get the wrong side of the cap, which is no different from the front one. That is, the headdress has become not only warmer, but also two-sided.
