Each residential building has doors - they separate living spaces, and without them it is unthinkable to imagine a modern apartment or private house. Most people buy or order ready-made doors that can only be installed in the doorway, but in some cases it makes sense to make the door frame - the base of the door block - with your own hands, in order to then install the door itself into it.

Instructions

Step 1

For high-quality manufacturing of a door frame, you will need a woodworking machine, as well as materials - a planed board 5 cm thick, from which you have to cut four segments, two of which are equal to the width of the doorway, and two to its length. Subtract the thickness of the top crossbar of the future box from the length of the vertical segments.

Step 2

Work the sections on three sides - cut and sand them, and on the fourth, place them against the wall. Depending on the thickness of the board for the future door, make a groove in the box into which the door will be inserted.

Step 3

Choose a groove on one side if the door is single. If the door is double, the grooves will need to be made on both sides. It is best to cut the door slot on a woodworking machine by raising the table and adjusting the cutting depth. Cut the created wooden blanks to the required length, machine the ends on the machine.

Step 4

After the long blanks for the box are ready, proceed to the processing of cross-sections. The length of the longitudinal segments for a standard doorway should be 193 cm, and the transverse ones - 90 cm. The groove at the end of the crossbeams of the door frame should be 1.5 cm deep and 5 cm wide.

Step 5

Assemble the finished box with nails or self-tapping screws to ensure the strength of the structure. You can hang hinges on the finished box and install the door, and in order for the door to be tightly held in the jamb when closed, you can nail a piece of leather covered with oil paint onto it.
