Teddy bears attract both children and adults with their naturalness and their charm. Modern craftswomen are happy to sew Teddy bears, coming up with more and more new images that are limited only by their imagination. You can also sew your own Teddy bear - the technique of sewing toys is available to both experienced and novice needlewomen.
Instructions
Step 1
For sewing a bear, prepare 1/4 meter of cotton mohair, a small piece of felt, holofiber, leather trimmings, glass eyes for toys, screws with rubberized nuts and washers, as well as strong threads and oil paints.
Step 2
Cut out the patterns of the bear's parts and transfer them to the wrong side of the mohair, following the direction of the pile. Before opening, check the specularity of the parts and align them using marks. Cut out details on the fabric with seam allowances of 0.5 mm, trying not to cut off the pile, but only cut the cotton or knitted mohair base. Check the paired parts for symmetry by superimposing them on top of each other.
Step 3
Sew the details by hand with a seam "back needle" from the wrong side, or sew on a sewing machine. When sewing the head details, start by sewing the darts, then sew a section of the head from the tip of the nose to the neck, and sew a wedge of fabric from the center of the nose to the base of the neck.
Step 4
Cut the corner allowances and turn out the part. Then sew the ears, also cut the corner allowances and turn them out. Wrap the unsewn edge inward and sew by hand with a blind stitch. Sew all other parts of the bear (body, arms and legs) together, leaving one side open for stuffing. When sewing the legs, do not forget to sew in the sole cut out separately.
Step 5
Fill the bear's head evenly with holofiber and tamp the filler with a wooden stick. Cut off the excess pile on the bear's face and embroider the nose, having previously cut its shape out of felt and glued to the right place on the face. Embroider the nose with iris threads, making two layers of embroidery for strength. Then embroider the mouth by inserting a needle and thread into the base of the nose and stitching out the contours of the bear's mouth. Thread the thread inside out and secure.
Step 6
Use a needle and thread to put a white felt circle on each of the glass or plastic eyes to make the eyes look more expressive, and then sew the eyes to the desired places, pulling the thread so that the eyes go deep into the fabric.
Step 7
After the eyes, proceed to sewing on both ears, pulling them towards the head, and glueing on the upper eyelids, which can be cut from pieces of leather or felt.
Step 8
In the bear's neck, insert the hinge mount made of a screw and washer, the other end of which must be placed in the bear's body. Thanks to the swivel mount, the bear's head can be turned to the sides. Stuff the upper legs and also attach with the hinge bolts.
Step 9
After stuffing the lower legs, do not forget to use threads to pull their lower part, forming the fingers. Fill the torso with padding polyester, sew up all the holes with a blind stitch and sew on the tail. Additionally, you can dilute the oil paints and tint the bear with a sponge and a flat brush around the eyes, nose and ears.
