Decide for yourself who you would like to correspond with. With people from which country you would like to meet, their age, gender, and so on.

If you are just starting to learn English or your knowledge leaves much to be desired, try to meet people for whom English is a foreign language and who are also learning it like you. This way you will be more comfortable learning the language. Once you've made some progress, get to know native English speakers.

It often happens that there is nothing to talk to a pen pal. Define your interests and look for people with similar hobbies. You will be able to keep the correspondence longer and find a real friend.

Register with pen pals websites. For example, www.postcrossing.com, www.penpalparty.com, www.penpalworld.com. www.penpal.net, www.penpalgarden.com. You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire in English. Your profile will play a key role, so make it as informative and engaging as possible. Add a cute avatar with your real image. Think carefully about what you can tell about yourself to make the person want to correspond with you.
Step 5
Don't be passive. Look at other people's profiles, select a few potential penpals, and send them an email with a small but interesting story about yourself. To ensure your search is successful, send at least ten emails every week.
Step 6
Do not expect to be answered immediately. Be patient.

If you receive an email, please reply immediately. This will show that you have friendly intentions and are willing to befriend the person. Ask as many questions as possible and answer those asked to you.

Try not to search for pen pals on social media. The people who communicate there have different goals, so it is almost impossible to find a pen pal here.
