One of the most mysterious souvenirs is a ship in a bottle. Without knowing special secrets, it is impossible to understand how a large and beautiful sailboat squeezed through the bottleneck. And it is absolutely impossible to imagine that it was completely assembled inside the bottle.

Step 1
There are several basic ways to place a sailboat in a bottle. The easiest one, recommended for novice modelers, is to select a ship such that its hull, when assembled, passes through the bottleneck. As for the masts, sails, cable strings, there is a little trick. The masts are not rigidly fixed in the hull, as in a real sailboat, but on hinges. This allows you to push the ship with folded masts into the bottle and only then spread the masts and secure them with rigging.
Step 2
A similar method, but without the hinges, is that a thin line is tied to the base of the mast, which is passed through the ship's hull and the hole for the mast. The principle is the same: a sailboat with lying masts is placed in a bottle, after which the line is pulled out, and the mast falls into place. If it is additionally secured with glue, then no storms are terrible for the ship.
Step 3
The third option is to use not ordinary threads as shrouds, but glued, rigid, like straws. An outsider cannot guess the difference, and the assembly of such a ship is much easier than using ordinary threads.
Step 4
All of these were methods, assuming that the ship's hull passes through the neck in the assembled state. But those ships in bottles that were collected right in it are really appreciated. Naturally, with the use of some secrets, for example, glued from several parts of the case. Places of gluing are masked by the waterline and superstructures. Of course, assembling such a ship is a much more painstaking job than building a model with hinged masts on a table and pushing it into a bottle. While professional modellers spend about a week on options with a neck-sized body, real masterpieces take up to six months to build.

Building ships in bottles is an interesting and exciting activity, because you have to not only hone the accuracy of movements and dexterity of your fingers, but also study the structure of sailing ships, the names of parts of the rigging, types of sailing ships, and therefore develop your erudition.
