Step 1
If you decide to learn how to paint in oils, try to start with simple drawings, gradually increasing the difficulty. So, for example, try drawing a tree. To do this, take a sheet of paper or cardboard. However, you can also use canvas, wood cut, etc. It is up to your choice and taste. If you opted for a cut of wood, sand its surface, prime it and only then start drawing.
Step 2
Surely, many have noticed the drawings of children. Trees in their view are a brown triangular trunk, at the end of which a green oval is attached. Don't make your life so easy. Try to complicate the drawing by adding details: branches, trunk, etc.
Step 3
At the initial stage, apply the outlines of the future tree and an array of foliage on a white background.

To do this, use a simple pencil that you can erase without any problems. Don't pay attention to the branches, just show them schematically where they are.
Step 5
It is worth paying attention to the size of the tree if you are drawing from life. Consider the proportions, i.e. the ratio of the height of the trunk to its width, etc. The visual method can help you with this. At the same time, do not try to place the tree on the entire leaf, leave a little space around it.
Step 6
When applying oil paints, consider the presence of sunlight, shadows and a variety of highlights. You can reflect this with the help of colors. So, for example, use darker shades for the lower leaves, lighter ones for the upper ones.
Step 7
Do not leave the tree on a white background. Draw the sky, yellowed grass, etc. Do this before moving on to the final drawing of the individual elements. In the foreground, bright wildflowers, a path leading travelers into the distance, and so on will also look beautiful. You may need to draw the tree several times until you are satisfied with the result.
